The PCIXCAP pin is an additional ground on conventional PCI buses and cards. If all cards and the motherboard support the PCI-X protocol, a pull-up resistor on the motherboard raises this signal high and PCI-X operation is enabled. The pin is still connected to ground via coupling capacitors on each card to preserve its AC shielding function.
The PCI Express standard is one of the staples of modern computing, with a slot on more or less every desktop computer made in the last decade. But the nature of the connection is somewhat nebulous: on a new PC, you might see a half-dozen ports in three or four different sizes, all labelled “PCIE” or PCI-E.”
- T7500 has 5 PCI slots. - they are all full length x16 slots, but they don't all work as x16, they just have the physical dimensions of x16. They go as follows: - PCI x8 Gen 2 - PCI x16 Gen 2 (x8 Gen2) - PCI x8 Gen2 - PCI x16 Gen2 (x8 Gen2) - PCI x4 Gen1. The chipset has only 32 PCI lanes so 2x16 or 4x8 lanes.

Your motherboard is similar to mine. I'm using M3N78-PRO. Our boards have a PCI-Express slot for the video cards. If you stick to any PCI-E video cards you should be fine. Also, make sure you know what you want. I'm using a simple ATI Radeon HD4670. Its more than enough for my needs since i'm not playing any graphics-intensive games.
PCI slots are used for a variety of devices: modems, network cards, television tuners, radio tuners, video cards and sound cards, among others. Most computers today have several of these cards.
Conceptually, the PCI Express bus is a high-speed serial replacement of the older PCI/PCI-X bus. One of the key differences between the PCI Express bus and the older PCI is the bus topology; PCI uses a shared parallel bus architecture, in which the PCI host and all devices share a common set of address, data and control lines.

Hi, I've I5 processor with dual 2.
CPU-Z software shows my processor name as "Intel Core i5 3427U".
Now, I want to connect an additional drive to this processor.
In my earlier threadI've been told that I need to get the separate PCI Express card to connect my Bluray drive.
Now, I'm really not sure whether I need PCI Express card or PCI Controller card.
Will any of these card work with my processor all pci slots 3427U?
It does not say anything on motherboard.
How does PCI express differ from PCI controller card.
Based on my processor information, can any one help me out if PCI controller card will work for me or not or do I need only PCI Express card?
Note: I've attached the pic of motherboard as well here.
Update: Here is the pic of my Device Manager: Thanks!
They are physically different slots.
The picture you have shows a pcie slot.
But how do you know that article source all pci slots a PCIE slot?
Also, is it PCI-E 16 or PCI-E 32 slot??
I read somewhere that usually PCI-E slots have a small click to attach the card but my screenshot does not contain that clicking portion.
Hence want to know if its really PCIE slot or not?
I attached a picture which shows the different slots.
Usually pcie x16 slots will have a locking clip but you will find motherboards read more all pci slots without them.
Device manager is not going to say what slots you have.

Thanks again for the reply.
However, how can you say for sure that mine is PCI-E x all pci slots only?
Why would it not be PCI controller card??
I don't see any difference in the picture that you attached except that the PCI controllers slot's small divider is on the reverse side compare to PCI-E slot's small divider.
Looking at my motherboards picture, it could be either of these cards, so how do you know for sure that it is PCI-E x 16 only?
Note that my internal graphics card is "Intl HD Graphics 4000" in i5 3427U processor.
There are a different number of pins, and they are wired differently.
You also cannot install a card upside down even if they were the same size but opposite.
It's like a circle peg in a square hole, you just seem to be complicating this.
You really don't find physical x4 and x8 slots besides x16 slots with those speeds so you'd just look at the mobo specs.
You can easily see the size difference of them if they were physical though.
I'm going to close this if you don't mind, it's all pci slots a year old bump.

The standard PCI-E PC is configed with 20 to 22 usable PCI-E links that use as a standard 1 16X connector leaving 4 to 6 links for the manufacturer to add connectors or not. Must of the time they add a couple of 1X connectors but could add 2X or 4x as long as the total does not exceed the usable links for future PCI-E adapter cards.
